He makes his Florida debut in a show coinciding with African American History month. His signature medium is a layer of roofing tar on wood into which he scratches an outline of figures, animals or flowers and then paints over with vivid colors. After having sell out shows in Chicago, New York and Atlanta, Banks brings a collection of new work speaking to his struggle and ultimate recovery from growing up in the Alabama projects and combatting a family history of addiction. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, January 26 from 6 - 9pm.Image Art to the Right: Scope of Life

Example of people who collect my work. This clip shows a little humor of Michael Banks. I don't take myself that serious neither does she.

This is art on tar. Merely another extension of what I do with surface. Like I said creating art is a neverending invention. Interesting huh?

As whymsical as it gets for me. Oil and wax painting 2006.

This painting represents the day after a dream. Try not to meditate on this one too long...

Self portrait....don't ask :-)

Despite critics and ongoing assumptions about art and artists I have been able to maintain a steady growth of buyers and collectors of my work that numbers in the thousands and continues to grow. Painting to me is a neverending invention. STILL STANDING.
